Just got word from the grapevine a clearwire truck was spotted on the campus of Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan. The tech was approached by a student and it was confirmed a 4G tower was being installed.

I turned on my 4G antenna on my Sprint Evo and here are the speeds i was able to pick up. Keep in mine my office is about 6 miles away from the tower in and im in downtown Detroit with buildings blocking signal etc. im able to pick up a poor signal but here is the speeds i was able to get.

I don't know anything about 4G. Except it sounds like a really great marketing gimmick.

Edge networks are dial up internet speed

3G networks are 300kb/sec up to 3mb/sec

4G networks are 6MB/sec to 10MB/sec

so if you pay for mobile hotspot like i do anywhere you go you can turn your phone into a wifi hotspot and connect up to 5 wifi devices to your internet and if you can pick up 4G then that means gaming / HD video streaming / fast web browsing and downloading and more can be accomplished.
